Children
The Service is designed for adults, families and children. We are cautious when processing personal information of users of the Service. The Service offers adults, families and children (from now on ‘Users’) video content in the form of videos on demand, live streaming of events, linear tv channels. Content is organised in categories and Users can browse it or search for content by keyword.
We generally do not offer any place where Users can sign up or enter personal information themselves. Users use the Service anonymously, without having to subscribe.
The Service, as per WimTV’s Terms of Service, excludes the publication of content of pornographic type, violent, offensive against religions, gender, races and political ideologies.
What information do we collect, and for what purpose
We may collect the following information:
• country and other geolocation information, for the purpose of getting statistical information of content usage (e.g. number of views, from where, when);
• information about Users devices (such as device identifier and type) for accessing the Service, through cookies (and similar technologies) as further described below. We need to know what device the User is using, in order to send the User notifications that inform about the availability of a new piece of content (a new video, a new live channel, a new schedule). This is the only reason why we collect this type of information.
Information collected by third-party services
The Service relies on Firebase for the following functions
Cloud Functions
Firebase provides us with a secure server environment for running code in response to database changes, for example, in order to trigger push notifications when a new piece of content (i.e. video on demand, live channel or schedule) is published. It collects the following information from Users:
– IP addresses
To execute event-handling functions and HTTP functions based on end-user actions. Cloud functions only save IP addresses temporarily, to provide the service.
– Cloud Messaging (i.e. push notifications)
Firebase Cloud Messaging provides us with the infrastructure for sending push notifications direct to User device. It collects the following information from Users:
– Instance IDs (a unique, random ID created by User device for each app installed)
Firebase Cloud Messaging uses instance IDs to determine which devices to deliver messages to. Firebase retains instance IDs until the development team deletes the ID (on your request). After the deletion, data is deleted from live and backup systems within 180 days.
Legal basis for processing your personal information
We will only process Users information where we have a legal basis to do so. The legal basis will depend on the purposes for which we have collected and use the User information. In almost every case the legal basis will be one of the following:
• Our legitimate business interests: Where it is necessary for us to understand our customers, promote our services and operate effectively. In each case that this is done in a legitimate way which does not unduly affect Users’ privacy and other rights.
• Compliance with law: Where we are subject to a legal obligation and need to use Users’ information in order to comply with that obligation.
Where we store Users’ information
The personal information that we collect is transferred to, and stored at, a destination inside the European Economic Area (the “EEA”).
Whenever we transfer Users’ information as described above, we will take steps which are reasonably necessary to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place to protect such information and to make sure it is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.
How we keep Users’ information
We take steps to ensure that the Users’ information we collect is retained for only as long as it is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. After this period it will be deleted or in some cases anonymised.
